National EH research conference: “Environmental Humanities on a Mission: Enabling Sustainable Futures”

Six Danish universities are organizing a national environmental humanities conference on April 19, focusing on the role and contributions of environmental humanities research in relation to the green transition. Everyone engaged in the environmental humanities is invited to join.

Humans are the cause of the climate crisis and hold the key to its solution. Yet, the human aspect of the transition to a sustainable future often takes a back seat to technical invention and political regulation in green research missions.

Against this backdrop, the humanities faculties and research sections at six Danish universities, including CEH, invite everyone engaged in environmental humanities to a research conference that focuses on the missions, goals, and contributions of environmental humanities to the green transition. How, we ask, can we integrate culture, habits, engagement, and visions for the future into the overall framework for environmental research to strengthen public support and commitment to the green transition?

The conference is a follow-up on the four green research missions on education, democracy, global justice, and possible futures that were jointly formulated in the fall of 2022. The conference will unfold specific environmental humanities research initiatives, while also taking a deep-dive into the discussion of mission-driven research in the humanities with insights from Danish and international experts.

You can read more about the event and register here. Participation is free of charge, but please note that registration is required. The program will be updated continually on the conference page. If you sign up you will be notified automatically via email when the full program is ready.
