Fields linking notions of environmental challenges, sustainability issues and education have been hotbeds of political, educational and pedagogical conflict for the last four decades.?Bildung-obsessed critics have shot down calls for behaviour modification, while “Sustainability” has slowly surpassed “Environmental” as the central buzzword. This talk discussed how the ongoing mainstreaming of climate change issues is now challenging how we see and understand education as part of an overall societal transformation towards sustainable development.

Jonas Andreasen Lysgaard, Associate Professor at the Danish School of Education (DPU), works with education, pedagogy and sustainable development.

Daniel Kardyb is a PhD student at the DPU focusing on non-formal education for sustainable development through the Naturkraft project.
